01 · Full disclaimers

What you need to know.

Six limits on what this publication is telling you. They apply to every score, every price and every ranking on the site, and they are the reason those figures can be read plainly.

  1. Not veterinary advice

Dog Food Reviews is an independent value and comparison resource. Nothing on this site is veterinary, medical or nutritional advice for your individual dog.

  2. Talk to your vet

Always consult your vet before changing your dog's diet, especially for puppies, seniors, pregnant dogs or any dog with a health condition or allergy.

  3. Prices change

Pricing and availability change frequently and vary by retailer, membership and sale. Our v1 prices are manually entered and illustrative, always confirm the live price with the retailer before buying.

  4. Scores reflect public info and our methodology

Scores are based on publicly available product information, retailer pricing and our published 100-point methodology, not laboratory testing or chemical analysis.

  5. No unsafe claims unless verified

We never claim a product is unsafe, harmful or dangerous. A low score reflects poor value, lower ingredient quality or weaker transparency, not a safety judgement. Any safety-related statement is only made where it is verifiable and on the record.

  6. Retailer-owned brands are labelled

Where a brand is retailer-owned, exclusive or heavily house-promoted and that relationship is verifiable, we label it clearly so you can compare like-for-like against independent brands.

A score is a judgement about value, not a judgement about your dog. Your vet makes the second one.

Where we stand commercially.

The current position, stated plainly, and the standing rule that governs any program this site ever joins.

Affiliate disclosure

How outbound links work here.

We currently earn nothing from links on Dog Food Reviews: no link on this site pays us a commission today. If we join an affiliate program in future, affected pages will disclose it, and commissions will never influence a score or a ranking. Our rankings follow only our published methodology, and any sponsored placement is clearly labelled and kept outside the scoring model.

The model, the independence commitments and the address to send a correction to. All three are published, which is what makes the disclaimers above checkable.
