Frontier Pets takes 95 of 100 for ingredients, the highest ingredient score of the 20 brands in our index, ahead of Lyka on 90 and ZIWI Peak on 88. The panels support it. The first ingredient on the 1kg chicken pack is listed plainly as free-range chicken, and on the beef pack as free-range beef. The chicken recipe carries 40 per cent protein and 28 per cent fat, the highest protein figure on any product we price.
Transparency lands at 95 of 100 as well, level with Scratch at the top of the index, and the ownership line is short: Frontier Pets (Australia), not a multinational parent of the kind behind Royal Canin (Mars Petcare, 60 for ingredients) or Hill's Science Diet (Colgate-Palmolive, 57).
