Everyone named on this site is listed below, and every entry carries the same three things: what that person covers, the commercial interests we disclose, and the coverage they take no part in. Where someone is recused from nothing, the entry says that too. The limits are published here because a limit nobody can read is not a limit.

Jackson Wilson

Publisher and owner of the scoring methodology

Veterinary reviewer, diet and health claims

A practising Australian veterinarian in general practice, who graduated from vet school in South Africa. He has been at Family Vet Centre since 2010 and with Our Family's Mobile Vet since 2017. On this site he reviews nutrition and health claims and nothing else. He is not a board-certified veterinary nutritionist, and his name is not attached to our scores, our price work or our retailer coverage.

What they cover

Nutrition and health claims only. He reviews what this site says about diet and about a dog's health, and he covers nothing else: scores, prices, brand-commercial analysis and retailer coverage are not his work and his name is not attached to them.

Disclosed interests

He has been at Family Vet Centre since 2010 and with Our Family's Mobile Vet since 2017. Who employs a reviewer is material to a reader, so both practices are named here.
He is not a board-certified veterinary nutritionist. He is a practising Australian veterinarian in general practice, and that is the whole of the qualification behind his name.

She is a dog walker, so she spends a very large amount of time with dogs of different ages, energy levels, temperaments and routines, from high-energy dogs that need hard exercise to slower walks with older dogs. She reads ingredient panels, researches foods and treats, and compares brands on what an owner is actually getting for the money. She holds no veterinary or nutrition qualification, so her name is not attached to clinical or dietary-health claims, to our retailer coverage or to our brand scores.

What a name on this site means.

A byline is a claim of authority, so it is worth being exact about how much authority it claims and where it stops.

A name is a scope, not a credential

Each entry states what that person covers here. Where a contributor holds no qualification in an area, we say so on their entry rather than letting a byline imply one.

A qualification is published with its limit

Our veterinary reviewer covers what this site says about diet and about a dog's health. He is not a board-certified veterinary nutritionist, and he does not review our scores, our prices, our brand-commercial analysis or our retailer coverage, so his name does not sit on them.

Interests are stated, not buried

Commercial interests sit on this page in plain words, and again on any page where an affected brand appears. A disclosure that only exists in a policy document is not a disclosure.

Recusals are published, or they are not real

Where someone is barred from part of the index, the bar is written down here with the reason it applies. An internal note nobody can read commits us to nothing.

Everything else is unsigned

Pages that carry no personal byline are produced and reviewed by our editorial team under the same published methodology. Being unsigned is not being unaccountable.
