Providore
A premium-styled range sold through a single retailer. The formulas are reasonable and the price is sharp, but transparency is the weak spot: sourcing and ownership detail is thinner than national brands, and a retailer house range gives you less independent insight into what's in each batch. The 'premium' look outpaces the sourcing detail behind it, so judge it strictly on price-per-kg, not packaging.

The detail
A Pet Circle house line, not an independent brand
Providore carries the ownership label we reserve for house lines: a retailer-promoted exclusive range, created to be sold through Pet Circle rather than run by an independent company with its own name on the door. Pet Circle's retailer entry in our data lists Providore as one of its two private-label dog food ranges, alongside The Nosh Project, and the food itself is Australian made. For a buyer, the practical meaning is that the retailer recommending the range and the brand being recommended are the same commercial interest.
That structure shapes what gets disclosed. Providore's transparency pillar sits at 57 out of 100, the lowest of its six scores, because a house range publishes what its retailer chooses to publish, and the sourcing and corporate detail here is slimmer than independent brands put on record. Pet Circle itself rates 75 for private-label transparency in our retailer index, respectable by house-brand standards, yet the range's premium styling still reads richer than the disclosure sitting underneath it. Treat Providore as a polished own-brand, priced accordingly, rather than an independent premium label that happens to live on one website.
One anchor recipe carries the whole range
On the format sheet Providore spans both dry and wet food, but the range as our index prices it comes down to one anchor: Grain Free Adult, a 12 kilogram dry bag listed as the brand's key product. Chicken leads the ingredient panel, protein is declared at 27 per cent and fat at 16 per cent, and the recipe is built for adult dogs. The bag carries an editorial price estimate of $115.00, which converts to $9.58 a kilogram and lands Providore in the $$$ price tier of our index.
Because a single SKU carries the pricing, the per-kilogram spread across the range is really a spread across buying methods: $9.58 on the standard price and $9.08 once the same bag drops to $109.00 under subscription, a difference of fifty cents a kilogram. There is no puppy, senior or breed-size ladder in our data to move along, and no wet product with a price attached yet, so any comparison you run against another brand starts and finishes with this one adult recipe. All figures are editorial estimates rather than checkout prices.
Buying Providore means joining Pet Circle
The stockist list for Providore holds exactly one name, Pet Circle, which is also the retailer that runs it as an own-label range. Pet Circle operates online only, with no physical stores, so the brand is never on a shelf you can walk past: it ships to your door, flat-rate under the $49 free-shipping mark and free above it. In practice you are not choosing where to buy this food, you are choosing whether to become, or stay, a customer of one specific retailer.
Providore's availability score of 61 out of 100 is that arrangement expressed as a number: one stockist among the ten retailers our index tracks, a seller with no price-matching policy, and a subscription discount as the only recurring lever, trimming the 12kg bag to $109.00 on our estimates. The practical consequences are worth naming. A Pet Circle account is effectively a precondition of feeding the brand, and if the retailer repriced, delisted or ran short of the line, there would be no second stockist to switch to, which is the exposure you accept with any single-seller range.
