SavourLife
Australian brand with a genuine rescue-donation model and fair per-kg value. Ingredient quality is solid mid-premium rather than class-leading: the panels don't reach the named-meat density of the top air-dried feeds, and the range is narrow with patchy stocking. A likeable, reasonably priced option, just don't let the feel-good story stand in for a category-leading ingredient panel.

The detail
One company, one name on the bag
The owner recorded against this brand in our data is SavourLife itself, an Australian company, and the food is made in Australia. Nothing else sits behind the name: it is not a division of a multi-brand pet food group, and it is not the house label of any retailer we track. The one unusual thing about the ownership story is what the company does with the money, donating 50% of profits to rescue dogs, a commitment our review treats as genuine rather than greenwash.
For a buyer, that independence means the incentives are simple: one brand, one company, no portfolio of competing labels to juggle. What it does not buy you is depth of disclosure. SavourLife scores 76 of 100 for transparency, a mid-table result: both recipes we index name their first ingredient and publish protein and fat percentages, but the company is not among the open-book operators at the top of our transparency column. Read that score as honest basics done properly, with less volunteered detail than the best in our index choose to publish.
A range built around two dry bags
On paper the range spans three formats, dry food, wet food and treats. In our priced data it comes down to two adult dry recipes, split along a single fault line: grain. The Original Adult Chicken is the grain-inclusive side, an 18kg bag with chicken first at 26% protein and 15% fat. The Grain Free Adult Lamb is the other side, 15kg with lamb first at 28% protein and 16% fat. There is no puppy, senior, breed-specific or prescription recipe anywhere in our SavourLife data, which is what the narrow-range con on its record is pointing at.
The 18kg Original anchors the range. It is the biggest bag SavourLife sells in our data, the cheapest way into the brand at an estimated $145, or $8.06 per kg, and it rates 83 of 100, one point behind the grain-free bag's 84. Stepping across to the Grain Free Adult Lamb costs an estimated $149 for 15kg, or $9.93 per kg, so the whole per-kg spread across the range is $1.87 inside our $$$ price tier. Whether a dog benefits from grain-free is a veterinary question, not a pricing one, and nothing here is veterinary advice. All prices are editorial estimates.
Six specialist stockists, no supermarket aisle
Every retailer we track that stocks SavourLife is a pet specialist. Petbarn, Petstock and PetO carry it on the bricks-and-mortar side, while Pet Circle, Budget Pet Products and Habitat cover the online-only channel. That is six of the ten retailers in our index, and none of the remaining four, Coles, Woolworths, Aldi and IGA, is among them, so a SavourLife household cannot fold the dog food into the weekly grocery shop. Restocking means either a trip to a specialist store or an online order, and the brand's own site is not one of the channels our data prices.
An availability score of 76 of 100 reads generous until you notice the con on the brand's record: patchy stocking. Of the six stockists, only Petbarn, Pet Circle and Budget Pet Products hold a SavourLife bag we can actually price; at Petstock, PetO and Habitat the brand sits on the stocked list without a priced listing in our data. Practically, that makes the brand easy to order but not guaranteed on any given shelf, so phone ahead or check the site before travelling for a specific bag. Which of the three priced stockists is cheapest on the day is a job for our price pages, not this one.
