ZIWI Peak
Genuinely high named-meat air-dried food with strong transparency: the ingredient panel is the real deal. But you pay heavily for it: among the highest price per kg and per serve in the category, and the value simply doesn't keep pace with the ingredient quality.

The detail
Who owns ZIWI Peak, and where it is made
The ownership line on our record reads ZIWI Limited (New Zealand), and the country of manufacture is New Zealand as well. The company behind the food carries the same name as the brand on the bag, and with New Zealand listed as the country of manufacture on our record, what reaches Australian shelves arrives as an import. For a buyer, that shortens the chain of responsibility to a single operation: the pack, the owner and the factory country all point to the same place.
What the owner discloses is graded separately, and ZIWI Peak's transparency score of 85 out of 100 is its second-strongest pillar, behind only the 88 it earns for ingredients. That disclosure is visible on the two recipes we track: each opens its ingredient list with the meat named on the front of the pack, and each carries protein and fat figures on our record. It matters because the brand sits in the $$$$ tier, the dearest of the four price bands we use. When a food costs this much, being able to verify the panel against the price is the difference between a premium and a punt.
How the ZIWI Peak range is structured
ZIWI Peak's catalogue on our record covers two formats, air-dried and wet, but every product we hold pricing for is air-dried and comes in a single 1kg pack. Each recipe is organised around one named meat, is grain free, and is rated for all life stages, so within our index the range is unusually flat: no separate puppy, senior or breed-size tiers to navigate, only a choice of protein. The Air-Dried Lamb 1kg is the anchor recipe, the higher rated of the pair at 89 out of 100, with the Air-Dried Beef 1kg one point back on 88.
The per-kilogram spread across those tracked packs runs from an estimated $75 for the beef to $79 for the lamb, a four dollar window sitting in our dearest price band, and because each bag weighs exactly one kilogram the shelf price and the per-kg rate are the same number. The lamb's extra spend buys a denser panel, protein at 38 and fat at 30 per cent against the beef's 36 and 28. Those are rich figures by design, and whether they suit your dog is a question for your vet rather than this page. Every price on this hub is an editorial estimate.
Where ZIWI Peak is sold, and what availability at 72 means
Six retailers carry ZIWI Peak on our stockist record: Petbarn, Petstock and PETO, which combine physical stores with online ordering, and Pet Circle, Budget Pet Products and Habitat, which sell online only. None of the supermarkets we score ranges the brand, so it never lands in a grocery trolley alongside the weekly shop; every purchase is a deliberate trip to a pet specialist, in person or by cart. Two of the six, Petstock and Habitat, appear on the record without a tracked price, which means a third of the brand's listed footprint cannot currently be price-checked against the rest.
That footprint is what the availability score of 72 out of 100 encodes: real reach across specialist chains and online carts, none at all in grocery. The retailer you choose moves the bill. Our lamb estimates span $75 at PETO to $84 on Petbarn's standard shelf, dropping to $79 with membership, while Pet Circle asks $76, or $72 on subscription, and Budget Pet Products $77. The beef spans $72 to $80 across the three retailers we price it at, Petbarn, Pet Circle and Budget Pet Products, and Pet Circle's $68 subscription rate on it is the cheapest figure we hold for the brand. Every number is an editorial estimate, so confirm with the retailer before ordering.
