Prime100
Single-protein, limited-ingredient Australian range that does the elimination-diet job well and lists its ingredients clearly. The catch is cost: the rolls in particular work out expensive per kg for what's largely a simple recipe, and the sprawl of formats across air-dried, fresh and dry makes like-for-like value hard to pin down.

The detail
Who owns Prime100
Our index records Prime100's owner as Prime100 (Australia), and its country of manufacture as Australia. The name on the pack and the owner line are the same, our index lists Australia as the country of manufacture, and the entry names no parent group above the brand. Compare that with the corporate structures elsewhere on this site and the practical difference is simple: when you have a question about a Prime100 recipe, there is one Australian company to put it to, not a brand team inside a multinational.
That independence only matters if the company actually discloses things, which is what our transparency pillar measures. Prime100 scores 81 out of 100 there, its second-strongest pillar behind ingredients on 83, and clear ingredient lists sit on its pros list alongside single named protein options. For a buyer running an elimination diet, disclosure is the product: you are paying for certainty about which protein is in the bowl, and the score says the labels support that. Elimination diets are a job for your vet to supervise; nothing here is veterinary advice.
How the Prime100 range is structured
Prime100's catalogue entry spans three formats at once: air-dried, fresh and dry. Our cons list calls that format sprawl, but structurally it is easy to read, because kangaroo anchors it. Both Prime100 packs in our index lead with kangaroo as the sole named protein and both are grain free: the SLR Single Protein Roll Kangaroo, a 2kg fresh roll, and the SK-D Single Protein Dry Kangaroo, an 8kg bag that is the largest Prime100 pack we carry.
On our editorial estimates the 2kg roll is $22.00, or $11.00 per kg, and the 8kg bag is $119.00, or $14.88 per kg, a per-kg spread of $3.88 across the two packs we price. The panels differ far more than the protein does: the roll runs 11% protein and 7% fat, the moisture of a fresh format, while the kibble runs 25% and 14%. The life stages split too. The dry is listed for adults only and the roll for all life stages, so of the two packs we index, only the fresh roll covers a dog outside adulthood. Ask your vet before switching formats; this is not veterinary advice.
Where Prime100 is sold
Six of the retailers in our index stock Prime100: Petbarn, Petstock and PETO, which run physical stores, and Pet Circle, Budget Pet Products and Habitat, which sell online. What is missing is any supermarket: unlike Black Hawk, whose entry adds Coles, Woolworths and IGA, Prime100 stays inside the specialist channel in our data. That is what the availability score of 73 out of 100 is describing: genuinely broad specialist coverage, physical and online, but no grocery aisle, so buying it is a deliberate trip or an order rather than something added to the weekly shop.
Coverage of the six is uneven in our index. We hold Prime100 prices at three stockists, Petbarn, Pet Circle and Budget Pet Products, and Budget Pet Products lists only the roll; at Petstock, PETO and Habitat the brand is stocked but we carry no Prime100 price, so check stock and price directly before relying on them. Petstock's own entry warns that what is online is not always on the shelf, while PETO backs its range with a low-price guarantee on matching items and Petbarn offers price matching on many lines. All prices on this site are editorial estimates, so confirm with the retailer.
